DJ Stevee Wonder

DJ Stevee WonderWell got into the rave scene right at the beginning going to RAINDANCE, ASTORIA, ORANGE in the early dayz. Always used to big a big vinyl collector and although I wasn’t dj’ing I was still buying the tunes and mixing at home on some crappy decks. Got my first ever play at energy at the eclipse. Then I met my next door neighbour who was a part of the legendary FOUL PLAY brady(rip) who taught me a lot. He gave me my first bookings when I didn’t have a dj name and suddenly stevee wonder was created.

At this time I was still going out every weekend to big outdoor raves all over the country and still buying the records. Then I linked up with my partner in crime mc juiceman. We used to spend hours just mixing and doin tapes for everyone going out to all the big raves watching the big boys he he and eventually getting the blessed technics. In 92 I began to go to milwaukees which hosted esp and helter skelter nights then it was taken over and equinox was born.

After weeks & weeks of going to milwaukees I was given a break playing an old skool set, at the house party at milwaukees, which was probably one of the best nights I’ve ever played and after that I got more and more work and became a resident at milwaukees for 4 years playing with the cream of the uk’s dnb dj’s. I then started to get bookings from all over playing in Birmingham, Bedford, Coventry,Milton Keynes, Northampton. I was also playing in the old skool arena at loads of the early skelters up to skelters 7th bday bash. I began playing for evolution and became a resident there playing at the uks biggest ove14’s event on a regular basis. Then in 97 was the end of Milwaukees and I headed of to the sunny island of Tenerife. I played at many clubs out there also running my own nights an old skool night called funky munky which was with out doubt the best night of the week, also a dnb session on Sundays. In the end I held a lot of residencies out there at the tunnel, the escape, solid soul, nooctua…but then in 2000 I came back to the uk to Liverpool.

When I came back I sent some demos off and was soon doing guest spots in Liverpool, Bradford, Bolton, Milton Keynes, Northampton, hitchin playing for a few different promoters; sidewinder, hysteria, twiceasgood, nostalgia, gutterfunk and of course the milwaukees & dreamscape reunion parties.

Well id like to give a few shouts to Donovan bad boy smith for my best piece of advice he once told me (it aint the way you mix it’s the way that you select stevee).mc juiceman many a mad night out with him big it up and all those equinox massive who remember the proper vibes.
