HISTORY

The story of DJ B-12 begins back on Long Island, New York in 1992, when he first was exposed to 'rave' music. He was later introduced to the New York ‘rave’ scene around 1993/1994 through friends who were 'ravers'. In 1995, his best friend, DJ Oneduz, was given an old pair of belt-driven turntables from his father and the two of them started spinning together. This started B-12’s addiction to spinning and buying vinyl. He then saved up for his first pair of turntables, Gemini PT-1000's, and traded them in a few months later for his first pair of Technics.

In these early days he was jumping around genres and played various styles ranging from trance breaks, techno, and techno-house, to jungle, ragga and drum & bass. He was basically buying whatever he liked, building up his diverse record collection at the same time and searching for those sounds and emotion that turned him onto this music in the first place.

DJ B-12 became resident DJ at such weeklies as Wizdom and Taboo playing his own unique blend of Breaks and Trance in 1999.

Stress Factor Productions (B-12 & Oneduz) threw their first rave called Konfusion @ Tantra Lounge out in The Hamptons, on eastern Long Island, among other parties such as Liquid State @ the same location in 2000. Later that year DJ B-12 starts buying and playing oldskool jungle and late hardcore exclusively.

In 2001, DJ B-12 started finding oldskool hardcore tunes over the internet and buying tunes directly from UK sellers where he found most of the tunes he remembered from his early days. His obsession with oldskool started kicking in hardcore; and he had finally found what he had been searching for his entire DJ career.

Then in 2002, B-12 met DJ Moody who had many records on B-12’s want list and he buys a lot of tunes from him. Moody later asked him if he knew any US DJs up for a spot on www.breakpirates.com. B-12 then sent Moody an oldskool CD he made. Moody gave the mix to DJ Drift and then in late February 2003, Drift set him up for a weekly 2 hour spot on Saturday nights.

About a month later DJ Oneduz also sent Drift a mix and he is given a 2 hour spot right after DJ B-12 making it a 4 hour block the 2 could do together, and Stress Factor Saturday (SFS) was born. They finally added another 2 hours to the show making it 6 hours long but often played for 8-10 hours.

At first the two American oldskool hardcore DJ’s from New York, playing on a UK radio station didn't have it easy, the reaction to them was mixed both good and bad, people either loved the vibes, tunes and new twist to the oldskool or they came in the chat room calling them names etc. But the NY boys kept doing their thing, and just had fun and gave the regulars what they wanted. The rest is history.

UK SIDE HISTORY

Now on the UK side, during the very first SFS show April 19, 2003, the NY crew met DJ Inferno in the chat room. Inferno loved the show and the new spin these yanks had put on it. He became an avid listener every week. He told them about his new website dedicated to keeping the oldskool vibe alive.

Inferno asked if they have any mixes we could donate to his site. DJ B-12 and Oneduz decided to give him all the recordings of the Stress Factor Saturday shows. Alex then made them available for listening through the site. B-12 and Inferno became very close friends and eventually combine funds, knowledge, files, and hard work to create the Stress Factor website, the first oldskool website to be based in NY and UK.

STRESS FACTOR NY/UK UNITED

December 25, 2003 Alex come to New York from UK and stays 2 weeks and has loads of fun staying with the crew. They have a few recordings of shows while he was in NY including a special New Years Eve and New Year’s Day shows. The NY Crew knew he was their man, everything they felt for the music Inferno did as well and they were well impressed with Inferno’s taste, selection and skills.

Inferno is then added to the crew and becomes a regular part of the Stress Factor Saturday show and gets the opening two hours of the show!! Inferno then meets Waxkiller, and had him as a guest on the show a few times. Waxkiller plays wicked tunes and does a wicked job impressing the crew on both sides of the Atlantic and he was then added to the lineup and is now part of the SF UK crew.
