Break Pirates On The Move!

Introduction
With modern technology it's now possible to tune into Break Pirates wherever you might be, including in the car, on the bus, on a train, or just walking around town. It's easier than you think, so here's a quick guide to get you locked in!

One quick warning before I move on...listening to Internet radio through your phone involves downloading a large amount of data. Typically a one hour show will be around 60MB, so please ensure that you either have a data allowance included in your call plan or you understand how much this might cost. Make sure you're aware of this before continuing!

What you need
In this particular guide I'll be focusing on mobile phones running the Symbian operating system. You'll find this running on popular mobiles such as the Nokia N95, N73, N70, and some of the other smartphones. You'll also need be with a mobile network and have a phone that's capable and set up to use the 3G network. So providing you have both of these you'll be ready to go!

Setting up
First you'll need to download the required files here and unzip them. You should see two .SIS files and one "Shoutcast" folder. These are the correct files for the Nokia N95 and should work perfectly. The following instructions are specific to the N95, but for other phones they should be fairly similar. Files for other phones can be found here.

Next you'll need to connect your phone up to your PC using the data transfer cable. To begin with we'll select the "PC Suite" mode of connection which combined with the Nokia software on your PC (comes on CD with the phone) will allow us to install the shoutcast software on the phone. You'll need to install both the "ShoutcastEngine_30.SIS" and "S60InternetRadio_30.SIS" programs.

The Shoutcast program will need to know where to find the Break Pirates stream. With the phone still connected to your PC switch the USB mode over to "Mass storage". From the zip file that you downloaded earlier copy the "Shoutcast" folder including the .PLS file inside onto your phones memory card. This needs to go in the very top folder, so for example if your phone appears as drive E: copy the "Shoutcast" folder directly into E: so you have E:\Shoutcast. You're done!

Locking in
On your phone go into Applications and you should see a new one called "Internet Radio", run this program. Select "Options" and then "Stations" and scroll right down to the bottom of the list. You should see two familiar stations, the first being "Break Pirates", and the second being "Kool FM" (my other favourite :)). Select one of the stations and the phone will start to connect. You should be be tuned in within a few seconds!

In the car
Of course using the above instructions you can also tune in while driving, but to improve this get yourself a mini FM transmitter which will allow you to listen through your car speakers, or you can achieve the same thing if your car stereo has an AUX input. If you need a transmitter these can be picked up on Ebay and aren't that expensive.
